CMMC-AB Approves Coalfire as Registered Provider Organization
The Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Accreditation Body has approved cybersecurity company Coalfire Federal as a registered provider organization.
RPOs are certified to provide advice, consulting and recommendations to companies seeking to become compliant with CMMC requirements.
“RPOs will play a critical role within the CMMC ecosystem," Coalfire President Bill Malone said. “The Department of Defense estimates that over 300,000 organizations across the DIB will be required to implement CMMC to improve the operational readiness and security posture of the supply chain.”
The CMMC was created to address theft and unauthorized access to controlled unclassified information by foreign adversaries exploiting the U.S. defense industrial base, Coalfire said Wednesday.
The program has five certification levels defining the minimum cybersecurity posture an organization must achieve based on the sensitivity of the information they handle.
Coalfire announced a suite of advisory services designed to help organizations plan and prepare for an official CMMC assessment.
The suite includes tools for identifying requirement gaps, remedying such and defining where requirements apply. Coalfire also provides security consultants who will provide oversight and support clients' cybersecurity maturity.
Coalfire is also a CMMC third party assessment organization, allowing the company to provide both maturity consultancy and conduct certified assessments.
“We bring a strong understanding of the CMMC certification process and assessment criteria to organizations preparing for CMMC, as well as years of experience advising organizations across the DIB, supporting their NIST 800-171 compliance and FedRAMP certification programs,” Malone added.
Coalfire, with offices in Virginia and Maryland, is a provider of cybersecurity services to a wide range of government and commercial organizations.
