GAI Receives HUBZone Certification From SBA

Government Acquisitions Inc., an IT service company based in Cincinnati, Ohio, has received a certification from the Small Business Administration as a HUBZone business.

The initiative offers “economic benefits to historically underutilized business zones” and organizations that qualified for the program, such as GAI, the company said.

Jay Lambke, GAI president and a Potomac Officers Club member, said he is optimistic about receiving the certification.

“This certification allows us to help federal agencies achieve their set-aside goals while also creating job opportunities and supporting economic growth in a historically underutilized business zone,” he said.

The accreditation, which began 23 years ago as part of the HUBZone Act in 1997, provides the company access to federal contracting awards that are reserved for authorized contractors.

The company said the government’s present goal is to have three percent of the total value of all main contracts and subcontracts be awarded to certified HUBZone companies each year.

Founded in 1989, GAI focuses on big data analytics, cloud computing, cybersecurity, mobility and end-user computing, network modernization, artificial intelligence, robotic process automation, data center modernization and machine learning.

In late 2018, the company became an authorized partner for the NVIDIA DGX-1, considered the world’s first deep learning supercomputer in a box.

The technology is an important component for research meant to speed up the AI data center and simplify deep learning workflows. With its integrated deep learning software stack, DGX-1 allows developers and researchers to use the product with ease.

Lambke said the government is keen to use AI technology and being a DGX-1 partner enables the company to help agencies advance their AI innovation in support of missions.  “This authorization combined with the GPU and HPC authorizations we previously received positions us to make a large impact on the market,” he said.
