Lisa Hand Named VP, GM of BAE Systems’ Integrated Defense Solutions Business
Lisa Hand has been promoted to vice president and general manager of BAE Systems’ integrated defense solutions business.
As head of the business unit, she leads 2,600 employees who provide engineering, integration and sustainment services to enhance customers’ mission effectiveness.
In a statement, BAE Systems Intelligence & Security sector President Al Whitmore lauded Hand’s proven record of leadership and in-depth knowledge of the company’s customers.
Whitmore, a member of the Potomac Officers Club and 2021 Wash100 winner, added that Hand is committed to excellence and is passionate about helping customers, BAE Systems said Monday.
Hand has been with BAE Systems for 13 years.
Previously, she was the business unit lead for the company’s mission solutions portfolio. The role put her in charge of various mission solutions programs, including the Navy’s Trident II Strategic Weapons System and AEGIS Combat Systems programs.
She also spent some time leading the company’s maritime combat systems portfolio. According to her LinkedIn profile, she delivered a wide range of combat systems capabilities, including systems engineering, integration and testing.
Earlier in her career, Hand led contracts operations for BAE Systems. She helped capture teams manage cost volumes, adopt negotiation strategies and negotiate complex contracts.
A graduate of Illinois State University, Hand holds bachelor’s degrees in political science and history. She also completed the Advanced Leadership Program through INSEAD graduate business school.
