Oshkosh Defense to Supply US Army With Modernized Heavy Tactical Trucks Under $232M Contract

Oshkosh Defense, a subsidiary of Wisconsin-based industrial technology company Oshkosh Corporation, has secured a $231.9 million contract from the U.S. Army Contracting Command – Detroit Arsenal for the supply of its modernized Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles.

The contract not only provides for the production and delivery of vehicles, such as Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Trucks, but also brings task orders for load handling systems and common bridge transports. In addition, the contract calls for upgrading the capabilities of the Army’s Palletized Load System A1 fleet to prolong vehicle life and cut operating costs, Oshkosh said Monday.

The company noted that its decades of partnership with the Army had already produced more than 20,000 heavy tactical vehicles overhauled for upgrades and fielded back to operations with the warranty of new units.

Pat Williams, Oshkosh Defense chief programs officer, said the company is honored with the Army’s continuing reliance on its products, citing the more than 50,000 FHTVs that Oshkosh has produced for the service branch and its allies. 

The FHTV contract follows the $208 million Army order for Joint Light Tactical Vehicles, trailers and related installed kits that Oshkosh received in November 2023, which also included deliveries to the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Air Force.
