Contract award
Peraton to Support DHS Cloud, Data Center Optimization via $2.7B Contract
The Department of Homeland Security has awarded Peraton a potential 10-year, $2.7 billion contract for data center and cloud optimization. The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract was originally awarded to Perspecta, which Peraton acquired in May.
Under the contract, Peraton will manage and operate the department’s transition to the Hybrid Computing Environment, a pool of computing resources that includes a data center and several cloud services. The company will also provide professional services in support of HCE and move applications and infrastructure within the resource pool if needed. DHS components can also place orders under the contract, FedScoop reported.
The award is part of the organization’s efforts to transition some of its data center operations to the cloud. According to a request for information issued in February 2019, the DHS wants to move the operating environments of several DHS components to the cloud while avoiding service interruption.
In July, the agency awarded General Dynamics Information Technology a $395 million contract for interim Data Center 1 service maintenance. The Peraton contract takes over the DC1 operation and maintenance work.
The contract has a five-year base period and two optional periods, one for three years and the other for two years.
