Scout Space Joins DARPA’s Autonomous In-Space Threat Response Project Under BRIDGES Program

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has tapped Scout Space to participate in an initiative that will allow the Department of Defense access to innovative technologies.

Scout Space joins the Bringing Classified Innovation to Defense and Government Systems Consortium after the startup submitted a proposal on the project that will create an autonomous in-space threat response solution, providing warfighters with disruptive weapons for protecting the space domain.

The consortium allows the DOD to rapidly procure and employ new technologies from small companies that normally do not transact with the U.S. government, Scout Space said.

Philip Hover-Smoot, CEO of Scout Space, said that the company is honored to support the DOD as it explores the complexities of space in an effort to achieve superiority.

DARPA has been collaborating with vendors to improve the United States’ capabilities in space. In June, it awarded Redwire a contract to develop a satellite equipped with novel electric propulsion systems for a technology demonstration in very low Earth orbit.
