Eric Mill Named as New GSA Cloud Strategy Director
Former White House adviser Eric Mill has taken on a new position at the General Services Administration.
On Tuesday, GSA announced Mill’s appointment as its executive director for cloud strategy in the Technology Transformation Services unit. He will be overseeing the agency’s cloud security strategy and assisting with the government’s technology initiatives.
Mill recently served as senior adviser to the federal chief information officer within the White House’s Office of Management and Budget. In his former role, he was in charge of supporting the Federal Zero Trust Strategy, the draft FedRAMP Modernization Memo and the Technology Modernization Fund, FedScoop reported.
The GSA unit is involved in several initiatives focused on promoting a career in public service related to pushing modern technologies, including the United States Digital Corps and the Presidential Innovation Fellowship.
The GSA believes that cloud computing will be a vital component of federal operations in the future. In July 2022, Allen Hill, the agency’s deputy assistant commissioner for category management, said he expects the cloud to play a vital role in the push to switch to remote work.
