TMF Invests in NASA, Department of Labor to Enhance Cybersecurity, Efficiency
The Technology Modernization Fund has invested nearly $48 million in efforts to enhance cybersecurity and streamline operations at NASA and the Department of Labor.
With the investments, the TMF aims to reduce the agencies’ risk from cyberattacks and provide faster, more efficient services, the General Services Administration said.
NASA will receive $5.87 million to accelerate cybersecurity and performance improvements. The funding will support efforts to automate network management, upgrade legacy infrastructure and collect more security data.
Jeff Seaton, NASA’s chief information officer, said the investment will be crucial in the agency’s ongoing mission to protect its valuable information technology infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the DOL will receive $42 million to overhaul its outdated workers’ compensation system. The modernization effort will focus on improving services for injured workers and expediting the processing of claims.
Nancy J. Griswold, the Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs’ deputy director, noted that the new system would benefit both claimants and their federal employers.
TMF Board Chair Clare Martorana emphasized the importance of the investments for secure operations and mission fulfillment for the respective agencies while acting Executive Director Larry Bafundo highlighted the TMF’s critical role in fostering innovation and improved services for the public.
