NewSat North America Secures FMS Contract to Support Jordanian Border Security Program

The U.S. Army has awarded C5ISR provider NewSat North America a multimillion-dollar Global Tactical Advanced Communications Systems II foreign military sales task order to support the Army Communications-Electronics Command‘s Security Assistance Management Directorate.

Under the contract, NewSat will provide a system-wide upgrade for the Jordanian Border Security Program. The company will address obsolescence issues and enhance the Jordan Armed Forces’ ability to detect and deter illegal border crossing attempts.

Work under the contract includes ensuring that the existing system architecture is maintained whenever and wherever possible, NewSat said Monday.

The U.S. has been supporting the Jordanian Border Security Program since 2009. The initiative ensures that the country’s land borders are monitored for illegal crossings.

The program includes an integrated border surveillance, detection and interdiction system that covers 350 miles and costs over $234 million.

According to NewSat program director Andrew Williams, the contract would expand the company’s global reach and is proof that the U.S. government trusts the organization’s ability to support allies in tough environments. He added that NewSat has supported the Army and FMS contracts since the company was established in 2016.

The contract was awarded by the Army Contracting Command-Aberdeen Proving Ground on behalf of CECOM.

NewSat North America offers resilient communications, ISR systems, communications and logistics facilities and infrastructure, lifecycle support and FMS products and services to government customers. It is headquartered in Indian Harbour Beach, Florida.
