John Hoffman
Principal Deputy Director, Mission Operations Directorate
National Reconnaissance Office (NRO)
Mr. Hoffman is currently the Principal Deputy Director, Mission Operations Directorate, National Reconnaissance Office, Chantilly, VA. He leads a diverse team of professionals at multiple operating locations providing critical overhead reconnaissance, intelligence, communications, and situation awareness to U.S. and allied policy, military, and intelligence leaders. Mr. Hoffman most recently served as the Deputy Director, Advanced Systems and Technology Directorate at the NRO. Previously he served in NRO’s MOD Directorate where he was the Commander, Aerospace Data Facility East (ADF-E).
John has served in a variety of roles in his 26 years with CIA and joins the Mission Operations Directorate most recently from the Directorate of Science and Technology. John’s former positions include Division Chief in the DS&T and Chief of Mission Processing Division at ADF-E. He began his career at ADF-E working for the CIA’s National Photographic Interpretation Center (NPIC) and also served as the senior scientist in NPIC’s Advanced Applications Development Cell, Chief of Product
Engineering at ADF-E, led the imagery initialization of several NRO GEOINT satellites, and he was the NRO/Imagery Intelligence representative to the Presidential Commission on the Intelligence Capabilities of the U.S. Regarding Weapons of Mass Destruction.
Mr. Hoffman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Imaging Science from Rochester Institute of Technology and a Master’s of Science in Systems Engineering from George Washington University.
